Here are a few examples of public relations campaigns we have done.
Amanda Scurry and Wendy Opsahl
We were members of the team that put together a coordinated campaign for the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Science’s Centennial celebration. The celebration lasted for an entire year including alumni events throughout the state of North Dakota. It cumulated during Homecoming week 2005 when we hosted, among other things, a community open house. The coordinated communication effort included newspaper advertisements, media relations, a feature story in the university student newspaper, promotion of the centennial book, requests to have the day proclaimed UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences day in the city and the state, a several page insert in the Sunday paper prior to the week, general promotion of the open house and a directory brochure for attendees.
This campaign was awarded first place in the 2006 North Dakota Professional Communicators competition and second place in the 2006 National Federation of Press Women competition.
Coordinated Approach to Child Health (CATCH) program
Amanda Scurry
The campaign to promote the UND medical school’s CATCH program was targeted at statewide and hometown media and ended up going nationwide. A story the statewide National Public Radio station did on the program was picked up by the state and the national Associated Press wire service. The story was then picked-up by dozens of media throughout the country. The campaign also did well in the towns where the program was being implemented.
Health Workforce Information Center
Wendy Opsahl
Launching this new endeavor, a centralized online clearinghouse for health workforce resources and information, in February 2009 took months of planning a national publicity campaign in coordination with the federal government. The press conference and related website rollout, held at Washington, D.C.’s historic National Press Club, hosted over 70 media and association representatives and resulted in over 70,000 hits to the new website.
