About Us

Bellis is Latin for "beautiful" and usually associated with Bellis perennis, more commonly known as "daisy".   A daisy's perennial awakening and simple elegance are how we like to describe our communication style.

Thrown together when we both ended up on the committee to plan the
centennial activities at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences, we quickly discovered we are an unstopable team and became great friends.  Known throughout the school as "A&W" we had great sucess in our work and a lot of fun, too.  We were even profiled in our alumni newsletter.  We are so glad to be together again to serve you through Bellis Communication.

Amanda Scurry, communication consultant, owner and founder

Communicating during naptime, Amanda started Bellis Communication in order to continue to write and practice public relations while staying at home with her daughter.

During her career she has done practically everything in the communication field.  From 2003-2007, she promoted the activities of the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences and its Center for Rural Health.  From 2001- 2003, she worked as a contracted editorial assistant and public affairs analyst at the Missile Defense Agency, U.S. Department of Defense, Washington D.C.  She has participated in several volunteer activities throughout her life including The Arc, Upper Valley and Girl Scouts of which she is a lifetime member.

Amanda lives in Newburgh, Indiana with the loves of her life:  her husband, Michael, their daughter, Samantha, their cocker spaniel, Buffalo and her classic movie musical collection.

Wendy Opsahl, communication consultant
